How do I change the ink in my HP Smart Tank Plus 551?
- Remove the cap from the ink tank.
- To open the ink bottle, twist the lid off and carefully lay it aside. If the ink bottles have a flip-top cap, twist it off to remove it. Pull the seal tab to remove the seal, then discard it carefully. Replace and tighten the bottle's lid before opening it.
- Place the HP Smart Tank 551 ink bottle upside down over the tank spout, then slowly push the bottle down onto the spout. If the bottle does not begin to drain, remove it and re-insert it into the spout. Avoid squeezing the bottle.
- After filling the ink tank, place the ink bottle upright and reinstall or close the ink bottle lid.
- Put the ink tank cap back on.
- Follow the previous steps to fill the remaining ink tanks.
- Close the front door.
