Open the cartridge over a sink or garbage can to avoid any mess in case of a powder leak as sometimes, factories tend to overfill toner cartridges. Gently shake the toner cartridge for about five to six times and avoid touching the bottom part of the toner, then remove the covering tape that is usually bright in color as well as the plastic protective case, if there is, before installing it.
- Carefully align and put the new toner cartridge to the drawer, then push the toner cartridge drawer back into place.
- Close the printer's front door.
HP LaserJet Enterprise M609dn Toner Cartridges FAQ
- Do laser toners dry out?
- Toner cartridges are powder-based and not liquid-based. This means that they do not dry out, but if a toner cartridge was not used for a long time, there's a possibility that the toner powder is not evenly distributed inside. This can cause uneven prints and smudges. To resolve this issue, you may shake the toner cartridge sideways to distribute the toner powder evenly. For more information, click our Troubleshooting Tips.
- Can I throw away empty toner cartridges?
- About 1.3 billion cartridges are used every year. That is why it is highly preferred that toner and ink cartridges are recycled rather than letting them end up in landfills. You can bring your empty toner to local or big retailers or even at your local recycling facility. You can also check some websites online like earth911.com to look for recycling options for your cartridges.
