Here are a list of home printers we would recommend based on inkjet printers and laser printers.
Inkjet printers use ink and creates better image prints than laser printers. They need to print at least once a week to maintain its vital component -the print head.
Laser printers use toner powder and has a higher printer speed and page yield than inkjet printers. They also require far lesser maintenance.
For Inkjet Printers
For light duty inkjet home printers, we would recommend the Lexmark X8350.
For around $150, it can scan, copy and fax. You can also print directly from your camera or memory card as well as your computer. It has a 50-page automatic document feeder and a modem so it can work as a standalone fax machine.
The drawback is that it can be rather ink cartridge-intensive with its printing, so it's wise to stock up on printer ink cartridges (it uses one black and one tricolor). Unfortunately, it also has a below average printing speed (maximum of 25 pages per minute in black) and text quality that is not quite professional standard (1200x1200 dpi in black), but you get an excellent light volume home office printer for its affordable price tag to fulfill a variety of your printing needs.
For Monochrome Laser Printers
For light duty monochrome laser home printer, we would recommend HP LaserJet Pro MFP M148fdw.
It is priced at $199.99 with the same print resolution as the one above. It has a print speed of 30 pages per minute.
It can also fax, scan or copy. The home office printer can print through Wi-Fi, USB and Ethernet. It also comes with a great starter toner supply of 1,000 pages for light volume printer users.
