Epson ET-8500 Ink Tank Refill Guide
- Make sure the printer is turned on.
- Raise the scanner lid until it stays in place.
- Open the ink top cover of the tank that needs to be refilled.
- Get your new CompAndSave Epson 8500 ink bottle and open it over a sink or garbage can to avoid any messes in case it leaks, as sometimes, factories tend to overfill ink cartridges. No need to shake the ink bottles.
- Carefully align and insert the ink bottle into the tank inlet that needs refilling. Let the ink bottle fill the tank on its own, and do not squeeze the bottle.
- Once the tank is adequately filled, remove and secure the ink tank bottle.
- Put the scanner lid back into place and go to 'Maintenance,' followed by 'Fill Ink,' then follow the instruction on how to reset the ink level to avoid any error.

Are all Epson EcoTank ink the same?
No, they are not. Some Epson EcoTank printers use pigment-type of ink, some use a dye-based type of ink, and others use a combination of both. To know what type of ink your printer uses, you may check the manual that came with it and look for the ink replacement supply. You may also check the existing ink bottles that came with your printer. In front should be a sticker or label with the model number, which is usually a combination of alphanumeric characters. For example, the Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8500 printer use an ink bottle that has the model code Epson 552 - T552, which is a pigment type of ink for the black and dye-based type of ink for photo black, cyan, magenta, yellow and gray.
How long does Epson EcoTank ink last?
OEM Epson ink bottles have a shelf life of up to 24 months. While CompAndSave's Epson EcoTank ink bottles have a proven shelf life of 20 months or more.
