Brother MFC-L8690CDW Toner Replacement Guide
- Make sure that the printer is turned on.
- Open the printer's front cover by pressing the cover release button.
- Grab the drum unit by its handle, then carefully pull it out until it stops.
- Grab the toner cartridge that needs to be replaced and slightly push it to unlock the cartridge, then pull it out from the drum unit.
- Slide the green tab back and forth to clean the corona wires.
- Get your new CompAndSave Brother L8690CDW toner cartridge. Open the cartridge over a sink or garbage can to avoid any messes in case of a powder leak, as sometimes, factories tend to overfill toner cartridges. Avoid touching the bottom part of the toner, then remove the covering tape that is usually bright in color, as well as the plastic protective case, if there is, before installing it.
- Carefully align and insert the new toner cartridge into its respective slot, then gently pull it towards you until you hear it lock in place.
- Push the drum unit back into place and close the printer's front cover.

But when I went to pull the tray out to investigate the cyan had powder spilled in many areas in the printer.
