How do I change the toner cartridge in my Brother MFC-8690dw?
- To open the front cover, press the release button. Remove the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly.
- Take out the used toner cartridge from the drum unit by pushing the blue lock lever.
- Get your new CompAndSave Brother 8690DW toner cartridge. Open it over a sink or garbage can to avoid any mess in case it leaks, as sometimes, factories tend to overfill the toner cartridges. Make sure to touch the black plastic part only, then remove the covering tape that is usually bright in color along with the plastic protective case, if there is, before installing it.
- To properly disperse the toner, gently shake it from side to side.
- Place the new toner cartridge into the drum unit firmly.
- Gently slide the green tab left to right several times to clean the corona wire inside the drum unit.
- Install the new toner cartridge with the drum unit back to the printer.
- Close the printer’s top cover.
